End to sexism in Media!

As MEDIZ-Women's Watch Group, following our ‘End to sexism in media!' campaign, carried out for four months, we would like to remind you of our wish for you and all media members a summer vacation away from sexism.

We are fed up with journalism on Cellulite, Bikini, Decollete, Showing Underwear (free kicks), Size Zero!
We Want to Spend a Summer We are not Peeked by Media.

It is usual to go on vacation on beaches to rest and cool down during summer!
And it is usual for men and women to wear pieces of clothes in which they can sunbathe, and swim!
These pieces of clothes may be one-piece swimsuits, or shorts for men and one or two-piece swimsuits for women, the latter of which is called a bikini. Thus, it is so very normal for women to wear bikinis to be able to comfortably sunbathe, and swim!
Then, how come media find it ordinary for men to wear swimsuits but make news about women, with headlines that read ‘Busted!', ‘Flashing news', or ‘shock, shock, shock', when they wear bikinis?
Why do we spend a whole summer with a media perception that suggests wearing a bikini is a crime with the way this type of pictures, and news with phrases such as ‘the famous woman got busted in her bikinis on the beach' are presented?

We do not want a peeking, discriminative, sexist media!

Men can wear anything and go to the beach while what women wear and the sight of their bodies become subjects of news, or they are peeked throughout summer. Although we find it nice to not come across news saying "We busted Mr. So and so in his swimsuit", we expect media to show the same positive approach toward women.

We Own Our Bodies
Our cellulites and Cup Sizes are Our Business ...

Not only what we wear to beaches but also the sight of our bodies are subjects of ‘media's intensive interest', and ‘media's watch and despise'. Objectives are turned toward women's legs, upper legs and thighs, presenting cellulites as a damned disease. And all women are forced, in the name of health, to get into the shape forged by dominant cosmetic industries, and patriarchal mentality. Again, we have a favorable opinion about not making news saying ‘Mr. So-and-so and his loose belly', we also would like the discriminative attitude toward women be noted. And we would like to repeat that it is our right to live, wander on beaches, swim freely with our cellulites, bodies that have been named ‘overweight', and clothes we feel comfortable wearing! We do not want to become objects of rating, circulation, and exposition!
As we have expressed through our ‘End to Sexism in Media' campaign that has been going on for months now, we want to spend a summer, when our body is not an object of exhibition or voyeurism, when we are not exposed to such ‘busts' or attacks aimed at our bodies!

End to Sexist, Exhibitory, Discriminative Publications, and Sexism in Media!
